There are few things more frustrating than being exhausted all day and then suddenly becoming wide awake at bedtime.
Midlife can change the way your evenings feel.
That’s why I like to make sleep a deliberate part of the Midlife Reset.
Create a Sleep Ritual
Instead of waiting until you’re exhausted, start winding down before bed.
Try:
Step 1: Dim the lights.
Step 2: Put your phone away.
Step 3: Take a shower or bath.
Step 4: Read something relaxing.
Step 5: Stretch gently.
Step 6: Go to bed at roughly the same time.
What About Melatonin?
Melatonin is a hormone involved in regulating the sleep-wake cycle.
Melatonin supplements are available in many forms, including gummies.
One of the products featured in my Wellness Favorites is Amazon Basics Melatonin Sleep Support Gummies, 5 mg.

However, a supplement shouldn’t replace good sleep habits.
And if you’re regularly having trouble sleeping, it’s worth talking with your healthcare professional.
Give Your Brain a Transition
Your brain doesn’t have an on/off switch.
If your day ends with emails, social media, television and household chores, give yourself some transition time.
Rest isn’t something you squeeze into the leftover minutes.
It deserves a place on the calendar.
